James A. DeSmith

James A. DeSmith Jim DeSmith joined Fischer, Evans & Robbins, Ltd. in May of 2006 as a summer associate after his first year of law school at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Jim returned to the firm as a summer associate after each year of law school and joined the firm as a full-time associate in August of 2008. His experience with the firm directed his educational and professional focus toward civil litigation, particularly insurance defense.

Jim was born in Munster, Indiana in 1983. In August of 1995 he moved to North Canton, Ohio and graduated from Hoover High School in 2001. Jim attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for his undergraduate studies, graduating cum laude in 2005 with a B.S. in Economics and a minor in Applied Ethics.

Immediately after graduation from Miami University, Jim began law school at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He earned his J.D. in May of 2008 and was admitted to the Ohio bar in December of that year.

Jim currently lives in North Canton with his wife Katie. He is an avid golfer and writer and enjoys spending his spare time with family and friends. Jim also finds time to cheer on his favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers (of which he is a proud shareholder), the Chicago Cubs, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
